Who is Cowichan Valley Open Learning?
**Please note, students do NOT attend at CVOLC (Open Learning) or The Grove (CVDL) or on Sept. 3rd. Teachers will be contacting students starting the week of September 3rd for one-on-one Student Learning Plan meetings, but there will be no classes that first week. In case of emergencies, you can contact Scott Jackson (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Charlie Coleman (email@example.com). **
In a Nutshell.
Cowichan Valley Open Learning (CVOL) is a group of alternative programs available to students living in the Cowichan Valley, more specifically, the School District 79. We know that learning can take place anywhere, not just in classrooms. Our programs at CVOL work with all our SD79 programs to create learning environments that explore the use of time and space in creative ways. No two students in SD79 will graduate with a program that looks the same. By accessing places and spaces that focus on the personalization and the flexible structure of the curriculum, a student can be in charge of building programs unique to their strengths interests.
Our Mission Statement.
“The Mission Statement of Open Learning, in partnership with community, is to provide students with an alternative to the regular school programs by offering an opportunity to experience success in a safe, nurturing, learning environment that emphasizes social, emotional and academic development.”
